OJ Breakfast Bread
Sundays at the farm were all about fighting a sea of bodies to the bathroom, followed by farmhouse OJ, Rose’s famous breakfast, and a hearty debate over which church we would all attend that morning. Mater Dolorosa or St. Patrick’s? It would boil down to which church had the shorter service and, of course, the better donut shop nearby...

Details:
- Serves 6-7 (1 loaf)
- Prep & cook time 80 minutes
- Oven 350° degrees F
Ingredients:
Bread
- 1/2 cup margarine (1 stick)
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
- 1/2 cup farmhouse OJ (fresh squeezed oranges)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Glaze
- 1/2 cup farmhouse OJ (fresh squeezed oranges)
- 1/4 cup white sugar
Directions:
Bread
- In a large bowl combine the flour, baking powder and salt, set aside
- In a medium bowl beat together melted butter and sugar, add in eggs, farmhouse OJ and orange zest, stirring to combine
- Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients (large & medium bowl), stirring to combine
- Pour batter into the greased loaf pan
- Bake for 60 minutes, until golden brown
Glaze
- Combine farmhouse OJ and sugar in a small saucepan
- Heat until sugar is dissolved, set aside
- Remove bread from oven and cool for 10 minutes
- Drizzled glaze over top
- Enjoy with family over breakfast
