Frequently Asked Questions
What is a floral fragrance diffuser?
Simply put, it’s a home air freshener. Penny & Rose floral fragrance diffusers absorb scented oil and disperse the fragrance through fiber reeds and flower petals. Each fiber reed contains 20 or more individual cellular sections that run from top to bottom and draw the fragrance to the flower. Each flower’s wooden or paper petals absorb the oil and diffuse fragrance through evaporation.
Will the oil change the look of my floral diffuser?
Yes, the oil will change the look of your floral diffuser. Each floral diffuser is handmade using natural materials. Due to their unique craftsmanship, no flowers will be identical nor will they absorb the oil exactly the same. This is the beauty in nature—no two flowers are alike! Our oil colors are derived from the essential oils contained within and naturally range from clear to yellow. Better yet, our oils contain zero dyes and colorants!
How long will my diffuser last?
Our Signature Floral & Ceramic Collections effectively diffuse the oil for at least 2-3 months. The Signature Floral petals will continue to disperse the scent for months after all the oil in the bottle is absorbed. Keep in mind, however, that factors including airflow, drafts, ambient humidity and temperature, and the number and type of floral reed diffusers used may affect this. Once the oil is fully absorbed, the flowers can also be reused as sachets or placed in a bowl as fragrant decor.
Where should I place my fragrance diffuser?
To optimize the scent and longevity of your fragrance diffuser, place it in a high traffic, warm area with good circulation. Be sure the air is circulating into the room and not out of the room. Open windows, for example, push air out of a room and will carry the fragrance with it. Our Signature Floral Bouquets are ideal for larger rooms; however, our Ceramic Floral Collection performs best in a smaller space.
What are your flowers made of?
Our Signature Floral Diffusers are made of sola wood and mulberry paper. See our BLOG The Making of our Floral Diffusers.
Ok…what is sola wood and mulberry paper?
Sola wood is a paper-like and flexible wood, though it's strong enough to be molded, bent, and curled. It’s porous, which allows it to absorb oils and diffuse scents throughout a room. Mulberry Paper is made from mulberry tree bark fiber, and its translucent, natural texture is inspired by flowers and plants in nature. Both mulberry paper and sola wood are widely used for fragrance diffusers, flower arrangements and bouquets, and other decorative items. See our BLOG The Making of our Floral Diffusers.
The diffuser bottles are difficult to open. Any tricks?
The tops are designed to prevent spillage in transit, and therefore, require a bit of effort to remove. But it can be done!
Rubber Stopper Top: Remove the rubber bottle stopper by hand, using a back and forth motion (rocking the stopper side to side) to loosen it while slowly pulling the stopper upwards. You may find it helpful to tilt the bottle upside down prior to removing the rubber stopper. Why? This allows the oil to lubricate the stopper thus making it easier to remove.
Can I mix scents?
Although our scents work well together, mixing scents is not recommended. Each fragrance oil has its own viscosity and may not blend effectively.
Can I dilute the fragrance oil with water?
No. Oil and water do not mix. You'll end up with warped fiber reeds and uneven wicking. Our fragrance oils are specially blended for easy wicking. There is no need to mix or dilute them.
Can I color my fragrance oil?
You sure can! Our Oil Tint Set allows you to get creative and colorful with dyes that can be added to any fragrance oil in our collection. Our unique floral diffuser petals will absorb the 'tinted' oil and beautifully transform your flower. We recommend using dyes with white flowers only.
Can I cut the length of the floral diffuser reeds?
Yep! Cut the fiber reeds with a sharp pair of scissors to create a perfectly unique bouquet.
